Salmon, Steelhead and Trout Flies

Spey Flies!
We specialize in Spey Flies!
The magic ingredient to make your steelhead or salmon adventure truly memorable!
Spey flies date back to the mid-1800's when they were designed to fish for Atlantic Salmon on the River Spey in Scotland.

The original spey patterns with their characteristic long flowing hackle have evolved over the years through the imagination and talent of many creative tiers resulting in a variety of traditional and modern styles.

In addition to the beauty of classic-style spey patterns, modern anglers have found the colours, silhouette and "swimming" action of spey flies to be a very effective combination for catching fish.

Traditional style bronze mallard wing pattern with a sleek body of red floss. Special touch - an underbody of silver tinsel keeps the floss a true red when wet. Custom blended purple dubbing is used with a dyed purple blue-eared pheasant feather for hackle. Ribbed with the finest silver tinsel - Lagartun's. This fly is a good pattern any time.

Bright fly - bright days! This pattern has a bronze mallard wing over orange floss and orange dubbing ribbed with Lagartun's gold tinsel. When wet the floss maintains a true orange color due to an underbody of gold tinsel. A natural blue-eared pheasant feather provides the flowing motion that attracts steelhead. This fly also works very well for cutthroat or European sea trout.

This is a little gem - a favourite fly that produces everywhere. A traditional style bronze mallard wing with custom blended purple dubbing, purple spey hackle, and Lagartun's silver tinsel rib.

This is a variation of Art Lingren's pattern that has caught steelies in the Thompson, Dean, Sustut, Skeena, Gold River, etc. It has a slim purple floss and dubbed purple body with a black spey hackle, gold Lagartun tinsel ribbing, and teal collar covered with a traditional style bronze mallard wing.

A beautiful classic fly that works. With a tail of golden pheasant crest and tippet followed by orange and black dubbing, two different hackle feathers, Lagartun's gold tinsel ribbing and a flat silver tinsel ribbing, a teal collar, white calf tail wing, and jungle cock eyes - no wonder it works!
Our flies are counter-ribbed and tied on Daiichi Alec Jackson Spey Fly hooks.
